Glaucoma Diagnosis and TreatmentGlaucoma is often referred to as the “sneak thief of sight” because in the vast majority of cases vision is lost to glaucoma with no pain, discomfort or noticeable change in vision. This is surprising to many people who feel that their routine eyeglass exam is sufficient to protect against the development of glaucoma.
Dr. Kirn, a Maine native, attended the prestigious
Gould Academy in Bethel Maine, and continued his studies at Boston
College, obtaining his Bachelor of Science there.
Dr. Kirn attended the New England College of Optometry, earning his
Doctor of Optometry after completing clinical rotations at the New
England Eye Institute in Boston, the Brooke Army Medical Center in
San Antonio, and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Newington,
Connecticut. Dr. Kirn is a member in good standing of the American
Optometric Association.
Dr. Kirn has a special interest in pediatric eyecare, contact lens
innovation and glaucoma management. Dr. Kirn maintains a full schedule at both
the Sanford and
Kennebunk Associated Eyecare locations.
